Well guys it’s been a long month, it did not start out good, but it is ending with a glimmer of Hope.  Myself and Rob (General) have discussed the topic I am going to talk about for about a month now.  And I am glad I did not pull the trigger on it.  I was beginning to believe that the Speckle Trout population was destroyed by the cold winter.  But today was a glimmer of Hope.  I found the Little B@sturds…

I have been spending my free time going out in the Ocean with the General Looking for Blues, Drum, and Cobia.. But with the 2 days off a week I have been dealt, the weather has kept this Plastic Vessel, like most the ones I see down here on, ON THE ROOF.   Only have been out may be 14 15 times this month, its got me NUTZ…And I would much rather get out there every day..

He's a scoring Fish 30 Points In Kayak Wars

I have been getting  a couple of shots at it here and there during the week (Like today before work) but the conditions have not been the best and all I have been able to Scrape Up have been a few Sharks of the Larger Variety too 4 foot.   As most of you know I would much rather hunt the Specks, but ya can’t catch something that is not there. 

He was a little bigger then I thought, pulled me half way to Frisco, then I got My HOOK back..LOL

Now that I have Found them, I hope they get Bigger this guy was a legal keeper, 14 inch's but I released him to grow bigger. No Points here..But soon very Soon...

Some other and I have been wondering if the winter we had,  killed our major resident Specks, the sound did freeze out a bit here in Buxton and a lot of us were very concerned. But today I managed 2, 14 inch Specks that I promptly released to grow bigger.  They were not Scoring fish In the Kayak Wars tourney that I am in, but it shows me that they are here, and with the Sound Coming alive all I can say is GAME ON…

My little Friends have come home to Roost…. I was getting a little worried that they were all DEAD, but they were Just a month and a half late…. Thank God…

Defenders Of Wildlife, Southern Environmental Law Center, Audubon Society, The National Park Service, And last but not least Federal District Judge Terrence Boyle, as the title says you now have Blood On Your Hands.. When I started this Blog Spot over a Year ago, I could not fathom ever writing an article like this.  Nor did I ever wish I would have to,  this is a fun spot on the WEB, but enough is enough.  And there will be no FUN today…

A Terrible Tragedy happened May 1st  in Hatteras Inlet, within sight of the Beach, if only someone was there to see it go down.  Well folks no one was there to see it because of the parties listed above..And massive Draconian Beach closures, where we can’t even see Hatteras Inlet from what little Beach we have left off of RAMP 55.    I will not go into details as I will leave that to the professionals here is the article.  http://islandfreepress.org/2010Archives/05.02.2010-OnEPersonDiesWhenBoatCapsizesInHatterasInletButFiveAreRescued.html 

What I will state is the Opinion of mine and a growing number of folks that live on this Island.  On a hard SW wind Hatteras Inlet Beach’s would have been full of Beach Fisher People Fishing for Drum, if it were not for all the Folks listed above.  A Tragedy may (could, would, should insert any of your favorite non answers to our questions)have been avoided. If ( there’s another one) if the Beach’s were open, someone could have called in the Overturning of the TIDERUNNER, and a mans life could and should have been saved. 

Is this not what this Island is about LIFESAVING?   Is it not this Islands CLAIM TO FAME??????Is that  not what we are in the history books for??? You all know the answers to that so I will continue.  That is part of OUR Cultural and Traditional Heritage, look it up.

A good Friend of Mine and a respected waterman by all who know him is Kevin McCabe.  Kevin is a true water men, Surfer, Fisherman, Paddler,who has been on this Island for many many years.  He has saved countless lives in and around Cape Point and numerous other ares of Hatteras Island,  but we don’t pat ourselves on the back here we just do it.. Here is one of the Scanned letters of thanks from the National Park Service for his selfless deeds.   Risking his own Life to Save others.

Here is a quote from Kevin ”IF IS WASN’T FOR THE RIDICULOUS NON-SCIENCE AUDUBON BUFFERS THAT RESTRICT PEOPLE FROM THEIR NATIONAL PARK BEACHES, SOMEONE WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY SEEN THE ACCIDENT AND CALLED IT IN IMMEDIATELY.”

He’s not the Only one to put people before self, back in 98 on a 4th of July Weekend I pulled 10 people out of that Ocean in 2 days, 5 of those folks I still to this day call dear Friends but then I did not know them from ADAM.  I’ll name 5 of them The OswaldFamily..They are not only my friends I to this day consider them MY Family.  And while we are providing Proof if ya need to contact them I can put you in touch with them as well. 

My point is that with all this beach closure crap if we were not there on the beach people would be DEAD, and lots of them.  By us being on the Beach, ya see its not about ORV’s, its about ACCESS, lives were saved.  Wtih no one on the beach Lives are lost, and yesterday this was driven home to me hard..

 All it would have took was a single phone call and the Crew and Family of the TIDERUNNER might have made out better. (this is not a reach as it has happened before boat in trouble in Inlet citizens make phone call Coast Guard there with in minutes). 

 Thank GOD for the Good Captains of Hatteras Island for spotting and rescuing all these folks.  GOD Bless You Capt Spurgeon Stowe, Capt. D.M. Gray, and Capt. Steve Richardson.  With out you things could have been way worse.. And I and Many Thank you for being in the right place at the right time.

Never in this entire process ,which the Beach Access side has played completely above board and truthful , Has it ever been mentioned the POSITIVE side to beach access.  It’s People Saving People …. We are the Guardians, the Stewards the true care takers of nature, and all GODS Creatures including MAN… I am sorry if this offends anyone, but it needs to be said and it needs to be asked. 

HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE YOU SAVED Walker Golder, Derb Carter, Chris Canfield?  You have all ready shown how much you care about the well being of the Good People Of Hatteras Island, by your mis-deeds and Lies..Lets see you spin this DerbCarter, you tried to play with me last time, remember Wings Over Water.. You lost my friend, unfortunately we all lost MAY 1st. THANKS

And NOW YOU ALL HAVE BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS, I hope you sleep well tonight because I haven’t been able too since this has happened… The Tide is turning and people are seeing right through all of your Lies… I hope you Sleep Well, May GOD have pity on your souls…
