"Bravado" Really

"Bravado" Really

Since the beginning of this mess I have asked myself what can we do that would be a win win situation for both sides?  Which leads to the question of why are there 2 different sides?  Why are we against the Bird Folks?  Can’t we come together as a community and solve a very simple problem, Breeding and Nesting ares, for Turtles and Birds, without Loosing access to all of the Best Fishing locations .

I believe the Negotiating Rule making Committee has done more harm than good.    It made a division US against Them, with total disregard for Nature, Wildlife and Humans.. And here we sit with a Federal Judge Terrence Boyle, and Lawyers for the Audubon Society, DOW, and the SELC managing our Park and Recreation Area.. Closing vast areas of Beach’s to TOTAL HUMAN ACCESS.. For what.. 6 Fledged Chick’s of non-engangered status.   Closing a Resort Beach from March through August , the peak of Tourist Season, then claiming that is the Economy that’s causing our Downturn is is ludacris and out and out a Malicious Lie.  Lets shut down Va. Beach for the same amount of months and see what happens.

"Rheotoric" REALLY??????

"Rhetoric" REALLY??????

What they don’t tell you is that the Plover is listed as THREATENED and RECOVERING, NOT ENDANGERED.  I won’t even mention The Oyster Catchers, Black Skimmers, and least Terns which are abundant and not even listed on any federal list.  They are just a Species of Concern listed by the State of North Carolina..

Turtles are listed, but my real question is should they be?

Take a Look @ Irene’s new article about the Turtles and how they deal with them in Fla.  800 miles of Coastline in Fla. with 62,000 nest this year.. We had 112 nests, where is the significance.  If all of our 112 nests perished, there would be no impact at all in the overall scheme of things.   The numbers just don’t add up.

http://islandfreepress.org/PivotBlog/

jam1The Draconian Closures that have been Forced upon the Good people of Hatteras make absolutely no sense what so ever.   If in Fla. they take a hands off approach and it works there, why must we go to the opposite end of the spectrum and close everything.. With no quantifiable results..   The Ramp system that was designed when the park was created allowed visitors to get on one Ramp in one Village and traverse up or down the beach to the Next Ramp in a Different Village.  Now they are Ramps to No-where, with none of the Villages connected.  Gone are the days of running and gunning chasing schools of fish up and down the beach, both Commercially and Recreational.

jam2

Lets put all the fighting aside for a second, just a second  and come up witha viable solution for bothTurtles and Birds.  Why can’t they be rounded up and relocated to habitat that is more conducive for success?? Why can’t there be smaller closures so less people can keep an eye on these critters?  Why can’t a Pen if you will (on a grand scale)be built to keep predators out and ensure the safety of the Birds?? With camo-netting over it to protect them from predation from the sky?  Why can’t we make said Pen and have observation decks on all four corners, charge admission and turn that money back into the system of Conservation, to make said Pen bigger and better.. making Lemon-ade out of Lemons.. With Nature and the Community working hand in hand.

I would tell ya this, it would not hurt to try, with a year and a half under our belts with the Forced Consent Decree, that sure does not look like its working at all,  does it..

Killing the mammalian population on this Island only will make a in-balance of nature.  They (Environmental Groups) have done this all over this country with nothing but failures to follow them.. The re-introductin of the Wolves in Yellowstone is a perfect example.    I could bore you to TEARS with account after account from state to state, where these geniuses who think they know  more about Nature than God have come in rocked the boat made money and left the Community in total disarray.

What about the fantastic Environmental Decision to Dump all them Tires in the  Ocean back in the late 60’s to create artificial reefs. That was a wonderful Idea wasn’t it, now after every blow we get to pick up all the tires that wash ashore because of the storm.   Mind you it is the Fishermen in ORV’s  that get to pick them up each time, not the Birders or their Lawyers.

Traditional and Historic Values, This is not something that is new, people have been accesing the Seashore by cars since cars were invented.

Traditional and Historic Values, This is not something that is new, people have been accesing the Seashore by cars since cars were invented.

Been to many Operation Beach Respect never seen a one there either.  They talk a good game but deliver nothing of substantial value, and never participate in any event held like that on the Island, which there are several a year.  Part of that Put Up Or Shut up thing that I am putting out there yet they never seem to help out, and that includes the Cape Hatteras Bird Club.  These folks live here yet never once have lifted a finger to help out in any way.

Did ya ever wonder why the Cape Hatteras Bird membership fee is only  5 Dollars a Year??  Well I’ll tell ya why it’s because Neal and Pat More pay for over 300 members that may or may not exist.  They pay for members that have in the past quit their club, just so they can maintain total control of the Club.    Wow that’s the New American Way isn’t it.  If ya can win it on Merit, BUY IT.

How about the Spotted Owl controversy of the 80’s and 90’s?  They stated back then that Old Growth Forest’s were the only place that the spotted owl would roost. Not so as has been proven.. now the Environmentalists are working with the loggers in a Co-Operative to solve the real problem.   Again the only ones that made out were the Environmental Lawyers.  Communities were destroyed, Nature was not benefited in the least, and a Bunch of Lawyers Skipped out of Town with Pockets stuffed with GREEN.

I could keep going on and on about BAD Ideas that sounded great to scientists 30 years ago but I think that a Thinking person would get my point.

The beach is still listed as N.C. Hwy 12, even as recent as H-Cane Isabel, the beach was the only route in some cases. When Hatteras was broken in half, Four-wheel drive was essential to the People of Hatteras's Day to Day Life.

The beach is still listed as N.C. Hwy 12, even as recent as H-Cane Isabel, the beach was the only route in some cases. When Hatteras was broken in half, Four-wheel drive was essential to the People of Hatteras's Day to Day Life.

My main Point is that there is no reason for the way things are being run down here now, and I suggest, that before any sort of plan is released to the public, that common sense be used.. I and many will not stand for a BOUGUS Plan put out by the Park Service just to appease the Environmental Lawyers.  I Pray for them if that is the case, because Life as they know it will cease to exist.  It’s a long ride to Nags Head for everyday goods and services.

The people that have lived here there entire lives have a wealth of information that could be used, to actually help Nature, not use it for a Paycheck.   Decisions from people that live no where near us but have read about nature in a book is not the way to go.  Some of these people have not even graduated and their term papers are being called the Best Available Science..  That is the most fool-hardy thing that I have ever heard, a college term paper best available science give me a break.  We have folks that have spent their entire lives Living and earning a Living from both Beach and Ocean.  So your gonna choose to listen to a wet behind the ears college student, that has not even started to live life against someone who has been a True Conservationists  their whole lives.    There are plenty of these “Ole Timer’s” still able to help, if ya really wanted help and if really was about Nature, but its not.  It’s about The Benjamins (Money=Control)

"MACHOISM" REALLY???????

"MACHOISM" REALLY???????

I believe that some of these folks better go back and re-read some early American History, and Learn the Lesson before they re-live it first hand.  More and more people are becoming disenfranchised, they are seeing through the lies and deceptions.  The facts do not Lie and even folks with no dog in the Hunt can see whats going on and why.    All I ask folks to do is read the below articles and Blog comments.  Decide for yourself, and then speak up.

Sorry we are Closed, who wants to come to an Island where the Beach's are closed.

Sorry we are Closed, who wants to come to an Island where the Beach's are closed.

People are tired of Loosing Freedoms and Rights that were granted to us.. They are sick of being lied to and cheated.  They are coming together, and the Liars and Deceiver’s see it and believe you me, they FEEL IT.

See not only do I TALK the TALK, but I WALK THE WALK SEE ya at the Event. Got my tickets, so I am LEGAL, be sure to stop on by and say HI, if ya got a SET....

See not only do I TALK the TALK, but I WALK THE WALK SEE ya at the Event. Got my tickets, so I am LEGAL, be sure to stop on by and say HI, if ya got a SET....

If you don’t believe they feel it just look at the weak attempt by Derb Carter, too try to misrepresent my words.  I am a no-one, a person that wanted out of the day to day grind and the nonsense of the real world.  Moved to my HANA, if you will, to escape all the BurgerKings and Walmarts on every corner, that these people go to and live with every day.. If they think they can tell me how nature works, they are sadly mistaken.  If Some of these folks went outside they would melt in the sun.  They are the See Threw White Elitists with the Pocket Protectors, learning about nature in a books, where I am in it everyday.   They sick the DOW Lawyers and the SELC, on our quite little Island, and then complain that they are treatd bad by the Comunity.. They cry that they are being used as Scape Goats, when if they never brought in these folks in the First place we would not be where we are at now.  Thanks to Marcia Lyons and her crowd, the park is now being controled by Special Intrest Groups and a Federal Judge.

Real Inviting..

Real Inviting..

People are loosing their Livleyhoods, for no justifiable gain..

Not once has anyone voiced an Idea where Nature wins as well as the Humans..  Reasonable Closures with corridors to all the areas that the Citizens of this country want to be at.  It has been made into an us verses them.  With comments from the Park Service that in the end of this process neither side will be happy…  WHY is that,  can’t there be a WIN WIN situtation???? I believe there can be.

I would give it all to them and disappear tomorrow if the Birds and Turtles were truly in trouble but come on folks over 60,000 turtle nests in Fla alone.  Plovers approaching their desired recovery numbers.. Our 112 Turtle nests and 6 fledged birds are not Significant, to the survival of the Species.   As the Plover gets closer to be ing de-listed bird groups are scrambleing to find another species that can take the place of the Plover and keep shuting down more and more beach’s.  A few years back they got real excited about the posibility of the Red Knot being listed as endangered, but it was found not to be in all that much trouble.   Plain and Simple the bang for the buck is not there..But wait yes it is, for the chosen few, the head of the Liars and Deceivers.  The Jayson Rylander’s and Sidney ”MadDucks” and Derb Carters, who Profit from putting 2 sides against each other with no viable solution brought to the table, except the one that’s the easiest CLOSE IT, ya see the answer NO requires NO work..

I’ll tell you why it’s not about the Wildlife, as long as they can keep a division between 2 sides someone will be getting a paycheck and guess who that is folks its the same folks that are the only winners in a divorce, it’s the Lawyers..

The Park Service will take the path of least resistance, which I fear they believe is US the citizens of the U.S.A.  I fear if they believe that we will just go away if they close it.  I believe that they are AFRAID of the SELC, DOW, and the Audubon Society.  They have all ready shown that, by not fighting for what is Right for everyone and everything.  By being rough road by their bosses at the Dept. Of Interior.   Maybe they should just give the land back to the Original Owners and just bow out all together.  I look at the promises made by the fedral government as covenents.  If they will not adibe by their promises, then give it all back.  Its designation as Federal is the only reason that the enviro’s can sue.. If it were not federal we would not be in this mess.

Early American History will tell ya that folks will only take so much, before they take it all back.  If that’s what you want then that’s what you will get, I guess that is more of the  ”bravado”  “rhetoric” and “macho-ism” as they call it on Birding Blogs up and Down the East Coast now.  Thanks Derb, for helping me bring the TRUTH to light at least to a few folks.  Some of the facts had to squeak into some minds.

But, Alas it is not “Rhetoric” “Masochism” or “Bravado”, it is REALITY.  Get used to seeing my FACE, Get VERY USED TO IT.   The Birding Community has said we are using them as scape goats, I say nonsense, you started this entire mess.  The fact that some of you still show your faces in public astounds me, well I am glad you do because you will get very used to seeing my Face as well.  I like to look at the folks Eye To Eye  that SCREW ME..

Sorry bout your Luck.  Take something from me and I will Take something from you.   There will come a time when I will call on all my Friends to Come and make a Stand with me, but now is not the time.  Lets see what they come up with, I can tell ya this, it won’t be good.  Public comment in November I will be there..

I'm Back, hope you all have a Great Day, I know I will..

I'm Back, hope you all have a Great Day, I know I will..

But I will tell all the Trolls and Moles this, it will be all done Covertly, and you will never see it coming, private e-mails and PM’s will be the Call to Justice..

“One If By Land Two IF BY SEA”

It’s your choice Do the Right thing or Deal with it.

Well here ya go here are solutions to the problem, but I can all ready tell ya that the replies and answers will consist of  If, Wouldn’t , Couldn’t, Can’t, Won’t and a bunch of other negatives, with out one regard to Positive Thinking..

Take a look At this video very well done and pictures speak volumes, thanks for putting it together John..

Small Group of Folks Got Tired of Being Screwed Couple Hundred Years Ago, its ashame folks can learn from their mistakes..We have been pushed to the edge, and some of us will not take it anymore.  We are pushing back, we will keep to the hi road for now, and conduct our selves in a Legal manner.  But I fear that someday soon a lot of us will abandon the hi road, and do what we have to do.  Its not gonna be fun, but it is our Right..

See ya At the Festival on the 6th, ya see I got my Tickets long before I started all this, so I am a Paying Customer, and I expect to be treated as one.

Just Remember This, The Folks that are Screwing all of us are our neighbors, Face them, the deceitful don’t like to be faced.. They know they are Liars.. The TRUH is on our sides..  Go to their meetings, events, and gatherings Let them know how you feel..

The media is screwing us too, just look at all the bias Yellow Journalism.  The Charlotte News and Observer, the Fayetteville Observer.  They Spew direct press releases from the Dark Side Lawyers, with no regard for fact.  WRAL set up a T.V. Interview with me a few weeks ago, just to back out at the last minute.. I know exactly what they are up too, they are gonna show up at the event expecting me to do an interview with them, which I will not.  I will just provide them with a fact sheet, with the TRUTH.  They will not get a sound bite from me to use against us.  I might have been born at night but it was not last night.    What ever happened to Truth in Reporting.. They should be ashamed of themselves.  People’s Lives are at stake,  and to purposely mis-represent the facts is an abomination..  But I will let you decide, I am just presenting the Facts period dot..   Mr. White is CLUELESS in the Below article..

No More Guessin Mileage The GPS Rocks

Went on an all day Adventure with a Friend of mine from the Old Shop Dick.  We started on the Inside and played around a bit moving from spot to spot.  The whole time I am plotting WAYPOINTS in spots that I have caught fish before.  Even in bright sun the Garmin Etrek Vista H was viewable at all times.

Just what the Doctor Ordered and this is just my backup.. Fish are Screwed..LOL Slide Trax Mounted Garmin Etrek Vista H Tough

Just what the Doctor Ordered and this is just my backup.. Fish are Screwed..LOL Slide Trax Mounted Garmin Etrek Vista H Tough

I was afraid it would be in theway of my strokes as I am a Hi-Stroker.  The High Stroke is a much more Powerful Stroke and with the proper timing you can get the yak moving very fast.   I hit 5MPH and maintained it for quite a long distance.  I was more than impressed with the unit as the main one is gonna be a Lowrance 468 C, Color, Sonar, Bottom Machine with GPS.  The Garmin is just the backup.

Decided it was so slick calm that it would be a good idea to head to the front side of the reef, just beyond Buxton Chanel on NAV maps, a little further then Clam Shoals.  I had previously guessed this distance to be about 6 miles round trip, for now lets just say I  was wrong.    ( by exactly  3.31 Miles )  Garmin Kicks @SS.

Proof Posite that Tarpon Do Come as far north in the Sound as Buxton, cause thats where I found this DEAD one.. Cold water drop of 20 degrees must have caught this sucka out there.. Would have loved to have caught him on hte Trout Rod.

On the way there we came across this DEAD Tarpon, he was about 30 inches long and weighed about 15 or so pounds.  Did not F with him too much because of all the bacteria and what not on the dead fish.  Just kindapolkaed him with a Stick, cept the Stick was a Paddle.  I knew they were there (in the Pamlico Sound) I have see them Jump, THIS CONFIRMS IT.

What a shame, this fish on a trout rod is a fish of a life time, its on my bucket list, and it is within reach.

What a shame, this fish on a trout rod is a fish of a life time, its on my bucket list, and it is within reach.

The Tarpon is one of my Bucket List Fish to catch, I have had a list for years of what species and size that I wanted to catch. I figured it would have been The  Blue Marlin, that was going to be the hard one to get, but I knocked him out in June of 2008 when I got my First Blue One 350-400 Pounder.  Its the dam Citation Spanish (Six pounds) and a Tarpon of any size on da YAK that eludes me, go figure.

We went to Kings Point off of Brigands Bay and started to work our way back.  Fishing a BS’ing along the way.

Dicks First Speck from the KAYAK great job man

Dicks First Speck from the KAYAK great job man

I was tellin Dick that inside were we were Early in the day and caught 4 Specks around this size, is the better place to be for Specks and Drum this time of year in the Sound.  More structure against the backsides of the Islands, and all you need to do is find the proper depth to find the fish.    Grass Flats to Bald Sand spots to 6 to 12 foot deep, will hold Both Specks and Greys.

Got'EM in da YAK..

One of my Little friends.. Got a few this size and bigger..

One of my Little friends.. Got a few this size and bigger..

Went back to the Inside where we caught all the Fish in the morning, to see if we could round up a Keeper (14 Incher for Specks new regs Oct. 5th)    We had no luck, but saw 3 dead Sharks, got me wondering, did the 20 degree temp drop kill all the good fish in the sound.

Only time will tell, Dick and I managed 4 Specks (borderline keepers) all released. 2 Short Flounders, and a Sea Robin.

Not very productive fishing, but you always see something cool out there.. A dead Tarpon Go Figure, Proof Positieve that if I put my time in Looking for those SOB’s I will one day find one.  Ya see ladies and gents, its not about being Good, its about being Persistant.  And I am Very Persistant.. JAM out

BRRRRR Fire up the Keg.. Nothing like a warm Fire good friends and Cold Beer

BRRRRR Fire up the Keg.. Nothing like a warm Fire good friends and Cold Beer

Frost on the Pumpkin For the Past week there has been one cold front after another, making temperatures more January like then October like.  So ya got to play the card you are dealt.

Ram Mount for the Garmin GPS mounted directly on the Slide Trax Mounting System.. SWEET

Past Couple of days, I have spent getting the New Yak ready for the Electronic’s that I am installing.   Mounted the GPS slide trax mount, and it came out perfect.

Out Door Heater, great for wod cooking oysters, clams, Deer, Birds, and anything you can think of. Its the same diameter as a webber grill so the Grill trays fit to perfection.

When these Cold fronts get on us you have heard me in the Past refer to them as DRUNK fronts.   We  stay put during Drunk Fronts as to not get into trouble with the Law.. So the other Night we Fired up the Keg Fire, and par-took of some Adult Beverages.

Been Dying to Take Kellie out on the Kayak, but the weather just would not let it happen.  I wanted her to enjoy the true beauty and to be comfortable while we were at it, so Tuesday it was.  Temps were forecasted to be around 60 and that is good enough as long as your bundled up.  These Sit On Top Kayaks are very Dry rides and there are some days I get off it and I am not the least bit wet.

Wilderness Systems Tarpon 130 T The Family Truckster of Kayaks. Mines single is like a Lambo, this one is the Truckster!!!LOL

Picked up the Tandem 130 T Wilderness Systems Kayak from the Outer Banks Angler Store, loaded it on the Jeep and proceeded to rig it with most of the Stuff that I have on my Single.   Milk Crate, Anchor Trolleys, Pliers, Fish Gripers , spare String, a few Dry Bags with the days supplies.

Me and Kellie headed to the launch Point, and proceeded to unload the 130 t.  We were greated by a few wade fishermen coming out of the water with a stringer that consisted of a real nice puppy drum and a Speck.  This raised the expectation level pretty hi, but not only am I a Minimalist I am also a Realist.  Got a couple of things going against me off the get go.

1.  I have never paddled the 130 t.

2.  I only had a few anchor points rigged.

3.  I was gonna be more of a Tour Guide Today rather than a Fisherman, as I was more concerned with getting her, her first Kayak Fish.

This Gull Found him some dinner, he had a heck of the time keepin his buddies away from his meal..

So we hit all the spots, Water Moccasin Island, the Oyster Hole and all the holes in between.

Kellie started off getting lots of nibbles and missed a few set ups, but she was enjoying herself immensely.

To be honest with you most Fishermen IMHO loose the real reason why we do this, its supposed to be FUN.  If you all know me I am all about FUN..  Sure to be a successful Fisherman you have to catch fish, but one of the things that I love is just being out there in nature.

You will always see something that you have not seen before.  Yesterday we got to meet Daffy Duck in Person.  (Don’t Tell The SELC or Derb Carter other wise they will shut the Sound down to Human Access Because there is only one Daffy Duck Left on the Planet)  This Black Duck would Swim under water for a long distance then pop up quack a bit and head off, only to try and sneak right back up on ya from another direction.  He went right under the Yak under water, happened so fast I could not get a picture of it.. Shucks!!! that would have been a good one but Mental Pictures are forever..

Managed to pull in a fat Sea Robbin but alas No Specks or Pups today.  Kellie was a smiles and grins, and I know that we will be doing this allot in the future.. I can all ready see her getting her own Yak..

Well I guess the Frost is gonna be off the Pumpkin for a while, temps and weather are going to continue to improve.  Thurs. looks to be a go for an all day Solo Shot, gonna test out the setup of the Garmin.  Temps should be 75 or so and Sunny, I will not Surrender, board shorts and bare back… AWESOME

Frost on hte Pumpkin Temps have been 20 degrees below normal all week.. Feels Festive but gimme back my board shorts.. I ain't ready to be a winter white boy yet.

You know what they say about ASSUMPTIONS

You know what they say about ASSUMPTIONS

Personally, I would like to clarify things that have been flying around the Internet that were taken by a MOLE, and posted to different sites that do not have a clue of what Atrocities that have been a plague to the Good People of Hatteras Island.  Many Business no longer make a profit, some have out and out closed their doors.  These are not just new start up businesses, some have been around forever. Many more will close this year and so on and so on.

Many home’s have been foreclosed on, many, many good hard working people now have no jobs to go to.  This, as some would like you to believe is just the effect of the Economy, and that people are hurting everywhere. I say BS!!

Last years excuse was the price of gas, this years excuse is the economy. Folks it’s the Closures, the people that are not coming here anymore, are all the folks that live within 8 hours of here.  The Hard Core Fishermen that used to like to chase Drum in the Spring.

These guys lived within a 400 mile radius, from all over both VA. And NC.  I would great them with pleasure each and every year, some for over a decade. They would have all their stuff @ the ready and just role on a moments notice.  As soon as they heard the Bite was on.  They would come each and every week and when the Spring Drum was over, they would come back and play with the Cobia well in July.

They would come back in the Late Summer just a Family trip, Kids and wives, Fathers and Mothers some Great Grandfathers and Great Grand Mothers.    That was the time that I would get to meet their spouses and generations of their Family, many a bond has been made with me and lots of folks, all kindred souls, from all over this fine land.

This was all done @ Cape Point, Buxton N.C., my chosen home. The Point used to be our Town Square, if you will.   You knew where to find me and my family and my very dear dear friends.  This went on undaunted for years, because it’s more than one of the Best Surf Fishing Spots in the World (Surf Fishing’s Mecca) I have heard it referred to in many a magazine.  It was our Community Meeting Place where we all used to meet and discuss the day’s events.

No more, If I am lucky, I get to see some of these folks once or twice a year.  Not the Dozen or so trips that I would see them on each and every year. These people have told me both last year and this that its not the economy and it wasn’t the price of gas. It’s the loss of the ability to go to a place that they want to be.  Be it Cape Point or Hatteras Inlet, generations of families have brought their children, and then their children brought their children’s children, to once a great place.  Hatteras Island N.C.

The Draw was so great for me that several years ago, I packed up and left Va. Beach, to come and live with the fine people of HI.  When I first moved here a good Friend of mine Big Jim Weston Said “Johnnie you will never go hungry here” And for the most part Jim was right, I have been accepted here by Native and New comer alike.  I have been to their homes for Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners, which are all day events, Based on Family Tradition, values, morality and a hard work ethic.

I am lucky that I came here when I did.  I had 5 Good years of unfettered access to the best fishing grounds on the entire east coast.  The best Drum Fishermen on the planet taught me how to do it.   Some that have never left this island except in times of war, when their Country called on them and they answered the call of service.  The same Country that is now going back on its Promises of unfettered access to this Recreation Area Into Perpetuity. Well folks I guess forever is only bout 60 years these days.

Some have left this Island forever and are Drum fishin with the Big Man upstairs everyday, all Citations up there I bet.  No hassles, no Closures, nature and humans living in harmony, the way it should be.  Not some un-scientific, court ordered, BS Decree that makes absolutely no sense at all.

I have had the pleasure of passing on what has been taught to me to people from all walks of life and from every state of the Union, and even some folks from overseas.  No More, thanks to a greedy bunch of lawyers, and the save the Earth bunch. Believe me God does fine without you all medalling in his work.  He has for years and will continue to do so long after we are gone.

They like to quote figures that they have tallied for North of the Bridge, Kitty Hawk, Nags Head, and Manteo.  They have so called counters in place that count all the cars at Whalebone Junction.  Then use some kind of Voodoo math to estimate the number of people in said vehicles.  Sound like the same BS formulas that they use in the Marine Fisheries Department to close off species of fish to us like they do.

There is nothing wrong with the North Beaches, if that’s what you like but most folks that like the more remote, desolate Places, come for The Hatteras Island experience drive right past all the McDonalds and Burger King Lounges , (no disrespect meant at all North of the Bridge is what it is and folks like that too)  South of the Bridge and North of the Bridge are 2 very different worlds as most of you all ready know.  If I wanted to live North of the Bridge, I would have never left Va. Beach.

Next One by one I will point out discrepancies and Spin by someone who claims to be a champion for the environment. Taken from my Personal Blog, mind you just a little excerpt not the entire article, with the figures of what animals were killed to produce 3 chicks of Non-Endangered Spieces.   Who’s name puts that battery acid type taste in my entire mouth, so I will refrain from typing his name too many times, this means YOU DERB CARTER!!!!!!!!

“Planned disruption of Wings Over Water”

First off I do not see any mention of WOW Festival in my BLOG @ all.  Second, I believe that at this Point its DERB’S PLANED disruption of his own Festival.

Third, I  “I” stated what I  “I” was going to do on my own Personal BLOG site, no mention of Law Breaking what so ever.  Not only that, I “I” have all ready attended a meeting of the Cape Hatteras Bird Club, and much to somes dismay I “I” was not taken away in hand cuffs, because I “I” did nothing ILEGAL.

Next Direct From DERB CARTER  A small group of ORV users who think they own our National Seashore and can drive on the Seashore beaches anywhere and anytime have plans to disrupt the Wings Over Waters birding festival this November”.

  • My response:  I guess he’s got me here, technically I guess 1 is the smallest number there is  (Group Definition: A small number of people with correlative talents committed to a common purpose, specific goals, a similar working approach as well as evenly distributed accountability among members. (Source Wikipedia)

  • I would have thought that a group would at least need to consist of an number graeter than one.. Just like their Champion Bill Clinton wondering what the definition of the word  “IT”  is.. Spin Spin Spin

Next piece of DERB out of his mouth…Notice how benefited is not spelled correctly.. (That’s for all the Elitist’s, one of which he is that like to point out spelling and grammatical errors) And Call us Rednecks Personally, I keep it real and let it all fly. But I am running this all through Word today just so I can make fun of Mr. Carter.  Water Birds is 2 words BTW …

“The good news is that all species have benefitted from enhanced protections the past two years. Nesting colonial waterbirds have doubled, threatened plovers and fledged chicks have increased, black skimmers returned to the Seashore to nest, and sea turtles have nested in record numbers. At maximum, during the peak of the bird breeding season, less that 13 miles of the 67 miles of Seashore have been closed to ORV use for resource protection. Despite being in the midst of a recession, visitation to Cape Hatteras National Seashore has increased each of the last two years”.

My response:  Fact: The Maximum number of miles closed to ORVs because of resource considerations occurred during the week ending 6/18/09 and was 21.3 miles not 13. When you add the 14.7 that has been closed on a long-term basis and the 12.6 that is seasonally closed, you have a total of 48.6 of the 67 miles closed to ORVS. Looks to me to be third grade math.

FACT, as per the NPS resource reports during the first full year of the modified resource protection plan the number of nesting pairs of plovers fell from 11 to 9. The number of fledged chicks fell from 7 to 6. And the fledge rate remained essentially unchanged (.67, .64, .67 for 2009, 2008, and 2007).
Guess he can’t Spell or do math to well. Thanks Jim/Ginny you are the Statistician and we need ya..

“Derbisim So what can you do to help. First, go to Wings Over Water in November. Enjoy some of the best Fall birding NC has to offer. Do not be intimidated by these tactics. Defy the thugs. We know several of the individuals involved in this and have been working with federal and state law enforcement”.

And we Know you, See ya @ the event I “I” know “I” will be there.. Will you…

Folks if this moron thinks that this was the calling all REDKNECKS alert, he is a fool. It’s not time for that yet, but be sure one day that call will come. And then you will have to ask yourself that question, will I fight for what I believe in or will I sit and watch it be taken away from me. I have known my answer for years. And I am always @ the ready..

Sand Bags fully exposed @ the Buxton Jetties

Went for a walk with a special lady friend of mine, just to do a little re-con on the trout hole’s I like to fish In Buxton.    The good news is they look sweet, major cuts and sloughs up and down the beach with lots of structure to fish.

We walked for a bout a mile and checked out the Damage done to the Jetties from Bill and Dan thee 2 storms that came by and paid us a visit.  Look @ the immense power of the Ocean that piece of Concrete that was part of the Jetties was picked up like a Lincoln Log and moved several hundred feet.

Wind Surfers are out ya know the wind is up..

Wind Surfers are out ya know the wind is up..

Wind was higher then expected today so that kept me on the inside of the Islands, to blow the West Wind a bit.  It has a little South in it as well so I guess it was a WSW @ around 12 knots or so, with Higher gusts.

There was water in the well..

There was water in the well..

If there is water in the well I say go to it. went right to the spot were I got the Nice Specks last night and bagged another 20 inch-er.  It was real slow after him so I moved into another spot that has worked for me in the past in a WSW wind.

Grey Trout, notice the lack of Spots or Specks if you will..

Managed 2 Nice Grey Trout, which was a hell of a surprise for me since I have not caught a Grey in over 4 years.  These guys were 17 inches and fought real well.  Greys eat just as good as Specks, so home they came.

Solitude is a Beautiful Thing

Solitude this picture says it all.. Blessed Happy Birthday MA..

Solitude this picture says it all.. Blessed Happy Birthday MA..

Even though most consider me a people person, which I am. I still enjoy my Alone time or John time.  I think that is why I took to Kayak Fishing from the get go.  It’s just you, a piece of floating lawn furniture, and your wits.  It’s a thinking game, with wind direction, temp, pressure and a lot of other variables that go into what spots I am going to hit that day.

Just beautiful to be part of this each and every day..

Just beautiful to be part of this each and every day..

With the days getting days getting shorter it leaves me less time for an after work mini-adventure, but , I don’t let that stop me.  I love the Fall on the Island, it is truly my favorite time of the year.  Colder Temps means window open no a/c needin good time sleepin fun on this little Island.

The Kayak is my source of Solitude, after an 8 hour day helping folks catch fish.  There is nothing more that I would want to do but go fishing.  I know sounds simple, and it is but I love it, and would not trade it for the world.

So instead of an all day Adventure I like to Cram as much Fun that I can into my MINI-ADVENTURES.

Launched round 3 or so and saw a Good Buddy of mine Chad’s dad , throwing the cast net for bait.  Chad’s a Marine, 3rd tour in Iraq, God Bless You Chad come home safe.

Paddled out to the spots that I thought would work on the SW wind that we had in the Area.  It was light SW so not much current, current is another one of them variables that I think about.  Hit a few spots with not so much as a bump, but I stuck with it and went to my last spot.  I thought this would have been the productive one, but its also the furthest one, so I like to hit the easy ones first.

First One 20 inch's 3 1/2 pounds

First One 20 inch's 3 1/2 pounds

Nailed a nice 20 inch 3 and 1/2 pound Speck he was a pissed little fella and did not want to come home with me, but I insisted, and after a brief tussle, he was on the stringer.

Was not long after that one that I picked up a real drag burner, got him all the way to the Boat and he shook his head, laughed @ me, I think he flipped me the bird as he swam away.  Got a good look @ him he was about 20 inches or so.  Had to re-tie after him, he put a little nick in my line.  After re-tying things slowed a bit and it became a very peaceful place for me.  Just hangin out making casts an reflecting on  life.

22 Incher Right @ 3.75 pounds Pretty Fish.

About 5 or so got another real strong hit and brought him to the boat.  When that happens it always makes me want to stay longer, so I did.

Round 6 this evening this nice keeper 21 inch flounder came and paid me a visit.  Got him into the boat and onto the stringer.  Caught a Croaker and decided it was time to go home.  Got to See the Sunrise, and Set Over Hatteras Island, I am blessed..

Just as bout as Pretty as it gets folks, no one around for miles and miles and miles in every direction. Solitude @ its finest..

I  have had some good luck in a few spots beyond Channel Marker 8 of Buxton Channel.  The Channel is about 4 1/2 miles off the launch Point and makes for a Good Workout and a chance to test the New Yak on a long trip.

@ about 6 miles out there you are no longer protected by the backside of Hatteras Island. It is all open water and lots of current. It is quite the Awesome spot..

It’s as comfortable as it gets with the Cadillac Phase 3 seating system, I can and will do 12 to 16 hours in the boat.  It’s a much Dryer ride then my old one, and seems much faster.

A Little Shortie Flounder.

A Little Shortie Flounder.

Was not long after I arrived @ ones of my holes on the other side of Buxton Channel when I Picked up this Little Flounder, he did not make the cut so I set him free.  Worked several areas out deep in the Pamlico Sound, and much to my dismay it was not as active as I like it to be.

Started heading Back towards Buxton Fishing @ all the Fishy looking spots as I headed back to the inner holes.

Kinakeet Shores Avon in the Distance ya can almost not see the houses.. Its so far out.

Got to a real pretty area set up with grass flats leading to a bald spot of sandy bottom that went on for 50 yards or so.  Pitched a few out there and it was not long before I picked up a Real Nice Speck,  22 inches 3 and change pounds.
