"BLOOD IN THE BOAT" would be a good name for a Death Metal song if only I were young again... LOL JAM

As a lot of you know I get up every morning @ 3:45 A.m. to get to work by 5:00 A.M..  Being a creature of habit, I like to keep everything the same even when I am off.  Today was no different, up by 4, dogs out, coffee on turn on the news, fire up the computer, do web work, do 2 loads of laundry,  clean up .  You get the Idea just a normal everyday,  day off.  Just I get done all that crap very very early.

First of Many, too many to put a number on.. Fun on light tackle.

First of Many, too many to put a number on.. Fun on light tackle.

Finished up all my chores by about 10 or so and the wind was not yet all over it, so I decided to give it a go.  It only takes me about 10 minutes to load up and go, because most of the stuff is all ready in the JEEP.  Getting ready consists of grabbing 2 of my trout rods, camera, smokes and Coffee and heading out the door.

Another about the same size, a little bigger maybe.

Another about the same size, a little bigger maybe.

The launch is under a mile from my house, and I am in the water  water ready to go in about 5 minutes.   I have always been a fan of the Work Smarter not Harder mentality, so I always hit a couple of spots with in sight of my JEEP on the way out.  If they are there then why work hard for them .

On my very first cast my rod doubles over and its game on time, lots of head shake, more pulling definitely not a trout I think to myself.  Get him to the Yak and see the Spot on its tail.

And another, this went on for an hour or so with fish from 9 to 17 inches. A real Blast on the light tackle stuff.

And another, this went on for an hour or so with fish from 9 to 17 inches. A real Blast on the light tackle stuff.

It’s a Little Guppy Drum, not quite a Puppy yet just a little Guppy.  Let him go and just about every single cast was another Guppy Drum.  This went on for about an hour or so until a Gentleman approached kind of where I was throwing to and picking off the Pups.  We talked a bit then I decided it was time to move on as he had spooked the fish that I was catching.

Started to pick up the Specks in the 12 to 15 inch range. Let all the Little fellas go.. With a Kiss and a Promise to see them again in a couple of years.

Started to pick up the Specks in the 12 to 15 inch range. Let all the Little fellas go.. With a Kiss and a Promise to see them again in a couple of years.

Headed North for a good Piece and go to the Leeward side of the Back of a sound side Island and anchored up.  Pitched a couple out there, and was getting little bumps.. After a short period of time I hooked up on this Little Trout here.  I stayed there for a while and caught about 15 or so Specks in the 10 to 15 inch range.  I consider these little guys to be my friends and I don’t kill the little ones as I want them to grow up and come back and see me, when they are Citation Size.

I look at these little guys as dinner in the bank, I'll get them again..LOL

I look at these little guys as dinner in the bank, I'll get them again..LOL

Besides that fact that a 12 inch trout has the Fillet a little bigger than a Mrs. Pauls Fish Stick.

Decide to start to head back towards Buxton, from Avon and hit all the Spots that I have fished for the past several years.  I can’t lie to ya, I was looking for a flounder on the Grass Flats to Complete the  North Carolina Inshore Slam, of a Pup a Speck and a Flounder.  Its no big deal but it’s just something fun that some of us down here do and keep track of, just for giggles sake.

After Drifting for quite some time, in the proper direction and angle to bring me back to the JEEP. I decided to anchor up on a spot that just plain looked Fishy to me.

Nice Little 2 and 1/2 pounder bout 18 inches or so.

Nice Little 2 and 1/2 pounder bout 18 inches or so.

This time the rod really doubles over and the drag starts screaming.  Set up on the  Fish and got him with in range to net scooped him up and put him on the stringer .  Nice fish bout 2 and a half pounds or so.  Worth the fillet for sure.

Just Shy of 4 Pounds a nice Speck for sure.

Just Shy of 4 Pounds a nice Speck for sure.

On my very next cast, right to the same spot rod gets crushed on the pickup reel is screaming, I know I’ve got something good.  Something in the 3 and 1/2 to four pound range, get the net @ the ready slide fish toward the yak netted,  Stringered and took these 2 Nice Specks Home for dinner.

Did not stay long after the Big fish as the wind had picked up to about 25 knots or so.  Stoped by Dillions Corner to Weigh the fish, walked in with the fish wrapped in a beach towel and threw it up on the scale, the scale read 8 pounds.  Well I thought maybe that big one was a little bigger than I thought.

Nice fish for the Sound this time of year.. Gonna go see if I can find them tomorrow A.M.

Nice fish for the Sound this time of year.. Gonna go see if I can find them tomorrow A.M.

Removed them from the stringer and lost the towel, put the big one on the scale alone and it hit right below 4 pounds.. Nice fish bout 23 inches and very solid.

2010 Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 Angler Review after a couple of Days

Monday, September 28th, 2009

After Owning the Boat for a Few days My initial thoughts are still the Same.  Wilderness redesigned, everything that I would have on my Older 120.  Even though they are the same length and width, the 2010 seems more balanced..

Tuperware Hatch's, This Tarpon 2003, looks like the nose is longer, which makes the Cock-Pit Smaller

Tupperware Hatches, This Tarpon 2003, looks like the nose is longer, which makes the Cock-Pit Smaller

Its hte Little things that make a Boat.. Molded rod tip holders by front hatch to hold rod while in your lap. I Love The Orbix hatch's compared to the Tupperware ones on the older model.

Its the Little things that make a Boat.. Molded rod tip holders by front hatch to hold rod while in your lap. I Love The Orbix hatches compared to the Tupperware ones on the older model.

Even the Upper portion of the Hull is a re-design.  More rounded in the area of the aft Cock-Pit.   Also Notice the 6 inch round Storage area on the older 120, its gone on the New 120 that is how it looks like to me, that the added more room to the Cock-Pit .. They shifted the Seating area back and that makes a huge difference.  I’m only 5″11′  200 pounds,a little fella, but there is plenty of room in the New one for a Big Boy well over Six Foot.

Compare the Stances of each Hull design The Camo 120 seems to sit different in the water.

You can see the stability of the new boat.

The Older Cock-Pit seemed more restrictive to me..

More roomd and a Huge Hatch.. The old hatch was lucky to hold a pack of smokes and a camera.. This one I put a huge dry bag in.

Even the Aft Deck area is bigger, by loosing that same 6 inch Storage hole Behind the Ols Seat.. Speaking of the Seat its awesome, there is noting else like the Phase 3 Seating system in this new YAK.. Ya can’t even buy one that would do the things that this seat does.. Its 3 way Adjustable, thighs, Lumbar, and Height.. Pretty Nifty if ya ask me.

As you can see the old Boat was for lack of a better term Ass To Plastic, after about 6 or 7 hours in this one, I used to hobble around Like a criple, and get numb-butt and Legs.

A Rightous Seat, makes for a Better day on hte Water.. I am supprised that Wilderness does not put this Seat in the Ride 135, it would solve all their problems with the seat back slipping on the Ride..

Like Sitting in your living Room.. I know I'm gonna take a few Cat Naps out there now..

Finaly I love the Slide Trax Mounting system, when I first saw it in pictures it didn’t impress me much.  But after jacking around with it.  The possibilities are endless.. The Slide Trax System made it possible for me to Semi-Rig the Boat in under and Hour and go fishing without cuting the boat @ all.. My older one was before the Angler package was even thought of and everything on the other boat was installed by me with a lot of cutting.. I have yeat to put a hole in the new boat. But that time is coming, as I am gonna do some cutting to install the Electronics.. Love the Yak, can’t wait till she’s completely rigged.. But for now it works Just fine..

The Slide TRax Rule.. Installed the Scotty that came with the boat.. it was installed in under 5 minutes.. Was a big fan of the ram Mounts but the Scotty is made for the Boat so its a no Brainer.. Scotty's it is..

A blog (a contraction of the term “weblog”)[1] is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), and audio (podcasting). Micro-blogging is another type of blogging, featuring very short posts.
As of December 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs.[2]

Types
There are many different types of blogs, differing not only in the type of content, but also in the way that content is delivered or written.
Personal blogs
The personal blog, an ongoing diary or commentary by an individual, is the traditional, most common blog. Personal bloggers usually take pride in their blog posts, even if their blog is never read by anyone but them. Blogs often become more than a way to just communicate; they become a way to reflect on life or works of art. Blogging can have a sentimental quality. Few personal blogs rise to fame and the mainstream, but some personal blogs quickly garner an extensive following. A type of personal blog is referred to as “microblogging,” which is extremely detailed blogging as it seeks to capture a moment in time. Sites, such as Twitter, allow bloggers to share thoughts and feelings instantaneously with friends and family and is much faster than e-mailing or writing.
Corporate blogs
A blog can be private, as in most cases, or it can be for business purposes. Blogs, either used internally to enhance the communication and culture in a corporation or externally for marketing, branding or public relations purposes are called corporate blogs.
By genre
Some blogs focus on a particular subject, such as political blogs, travel blogs, house blogs,[3][4] fashion blogs, project blogs, education blogs, niche blogs, classical music blogs, quizzing blogs and legal blogs (often referred to as a blawgs) or dreamlogs. Two common types of genre blogs are art blogs and music blogs. A blog featuring discussions especially about home and family is not uncommonly called a mom blog.[5][6][7][8][9] While not a legitimate type of blog, one used for the sole purpose of spamming is known as a Splog.
By media type
A blog comprising videos is called a vlog, one comprising links is called a linklog, a site containing a portfolio of sketches is called a sketchblog or one comprising photos is called a photoblog.[10] Blogs with shorter posts and mixed media types are called tumblelogs. Blogs that are written on typewriters and then scanned are called typecast or typecast blogs; see typecasting (blogging).
A rare type of blog hosted on the Gopher Protocol is known as a Phlog.
By device
Blogs can also be defined by which type of device is used to compose it. A blog written by a mobile device like a mobile phone or PDA could be called a moblog.[11] One early blog was Wearable Wireless Webcam, an online shared diary of a person’s personal life combining text, video, and pictures transmitted live from a wearable computer and EyeTap device to a web site. This practice of semi-automated blogging with live video together with text was referred to as sousveillance. Such journals have been used as evidence in legal matters.[citation needed]
Community and cataloging
The Blogosphere
The collective community of all blogs is known as the blogosphere. Since all blogs are on the internet by definition, they may be seen as interconnected and socially networked, through blogrolls, comments, linkbacks (refbacks, trackbacks or pingbacks) and backlinks. Discussions “in the blogosphere” have been used by the media as a gauge of public opinion on various issues.
Blog search engines
Several blog search engines are used to search blog contents, such as Bloglines, BlogScope, and Technorati. Technorati, which is among the most popular blog search engines, provides current information on both popular searches and tags used to categorize blog postings[12]. The research community is working on going beyond simple keyword search, by inventing new ways to navigate through huge amounts of information present in the blogosphere, as demonstrated by projects like BlogScope.[[[Wikipedia:[citation needed]|[citation needed]]]]
Blogging communities and directories
Several online communities exist that connect people to blogs and bloggers to other bloggers, including BlogCatalog and MyBlogLog[13].
Blogging and advertising
It is common for blogs to feature advertisements either to financially benefit the blogger or to promote the blogger’s favorite causes. The popularity of blogs has also given rise to “fake blogs” in which a company will create a fictional blog as a marketing tool to promote a product.[14]
Popularity
Researchers have analyzed the dynamics of how blogs become popular. There are essentially two measures of this: popularity through citations, as well as popularity through affiliation (i.e. blogroll). The basic conclusion from studies of the structure of blogs is that while it takes time for a blog to become popular through blogrolls, permalinks can boost popularity more quickly, and are perhaps more indicative of popularity and authority than blogrolls, since they denote that people are actually reading the blog’s content and deem it valuable or noteworthy in specific cases.[15]
The blogdex project was launched by researchers in the MIT Media Lab to crawl the Web and gather data from thousands of blogs in order to investigate their social properties. It gathered this information for over 4 years, and autonomously tracked the most contagious information spreading in the blog community, ranking it by recency and popularity. It can therefore be considered the first instantiation of a memetracker. The project is no longer active, but a similar function is now served by tailrank.com.
Blogs are given rankings by Technorati based on the number of incoming links and Alexa Internet based on the Web hits of Alexa Toolbar users. In August 2006, Technorati found that the most linked-to blog on the internet was that of Chinese actress Xu Jinglei.[16] Chinese media Xinhua reported that this blog received more than 50 million page views, claiming it to be the most popular blog in the world.[17] Technorati rated Boing Boing to be the most-read group-written blog.[16]

Blurring with the mass media
Many bloggers, particularly those engaged in participatory journalism, differentiate themselves from the mainstream media, while others are members of that media working through a different channel. Some institutions see blogging as a means of “getting around the filter” and pushing messages directly to the public. Some critics worry that bloggers respect neither copyright nor the role of the mass media in presenting society with credible news. Bloggers and other contributors to user-generated content are behind Time magazine naming their 2006 person of the year as “you”.
Many mainstream journalists, meanwhile, write their own blogs — well over 300, according to CyberJournalist.net’s J-blog list. The first known use of a blog on a news site was in August 1998, when Jonathan Dube of The Charlotte Observer published one chronicling Hurricane Bonnie.[18]
Some bloggers have moved over to other media. The following bloggers (and others) have appeared on radio and television: Duncan Black (known widely by his pseudonym, Atrios), Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit), Markos Moulitsas Zúniga (Daily Kos), Alex Steffen (Worldchanging) and Ana Marie Cox (Wonkette). In counterpoint, Hugh Hewitt exemplifies a mass-media personality who has moved in the other direction, adding to his reach in “old media” by being an influential blogger. Equally many established authors, for example Mitzi Szereto have started using Blogs to not only update fans on their current works but also to expand into new areas of writing.
Blogs have also had an influence on minority languages, bringing together scattered speakers and learners; this is particularly so with blogs in Gaelic languages. Minority language publishing (which may lack economic feasibility) can find its audience through inexpensive blogging.
There are many examples of bloggers who have published books based on their blogs, e.g., Salam Pax, Ellen Simonetti, Jessica Cutler, ScrappleFace. Blog-based books have been given the name blook. A prize for the best blog-based book was initiated in 2005,[19] the Lulu Blooker Prize.[20] However, success has been elusive offline, with many of these books not selling as well as their blogs. Only blogger Tucker Max cracked the New York Times Bestseller List.[21]. The book based on Julie Powell’s blog “The Julie/Julia Project” was made into the film Julie & Julia, apparently the first to do so.
Legal and social consequences
Blogging can result in a range of legal liabilities and other unforeseen consequences.
Defamation or liability
Several cases have been brought before the national courts against bloggers concerning issues of defamation or liability. U.S. payouts related to blogging totaled $17.4 million by 2009; in some cases these have been covered by umbrella insurance.[22] The courts have returned with mixed verdicts. Internet Service Providers (ISPs), in general, are immune from liability for information that originates with third parties (U.S. Communications Decency Act and the EU Directive 2000/31/EC).
In Doe v. Cahill, the Delaware Supreme Court held that stringent standards had to be met to unmask the anonymous posts of bloggers and also took the unusual step of dismissing the libel case itself (as unfounded under American libel law) rather than referring it back to the trial court for reconsideration.[23] In a bizarre twist, the Cahills were able to obtain the identity of John Doe, who turned out to be the person they suspected: the town’s mayor, Councilman Cahill’s political rival. The Cahills amended their original complaint, and the mayor settled the case rather than going to trial.
In January 2007, two prominent Malaysian political bloggers, Jeff Ooi and Ahiruddin Attan, were sued by pro-government newspaper, The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad, Kalimullah bin Masheerul Hassan, Hishamuddin bin Aun and Brenden John a/l John Pereira over an alleged defamation. The plaintiff was supported by the Malaysian government.[24] Following the suit, the Malaysian government proposed to “register” all bloggers in Malaysia in order to better control parties against their interest. [25] This is the first such legal case against bloggers in the country.
In the United States, blogger Aaron Wall was sued by Traffic Power for defamation and publication of trade secrets in 2005.[26] According to Wired Magazine, Traffic Power had been “banned from Google for allegedly rigging search engine results.”[27] Wall and other “white hat” search engine optimization consultants had exposed Traffic Power in what they claim was an effort to protect the public. The case was watched by many bloggers because it addressed the murky legal question of who is liable for comments posted on blogs.[28] The case was dismissed for lack of personal jurisdiction, and Traffic Power failed to appeal within the allowed time.[29][30][31][32]
In 2009, a controversial and landmark decision by The Hon. Mr Justice Eady refused to grant an order to protect the anonymity of Richard Horton.[33]
In 2009, NDTV issued a legal notice to Indian blogger Chetan Kunte for “abusive free speech” regarding a blog post criticizing their coverage of the Mumbai attacks.[34] The blogger unconditionally withdrew his post, replacing it with legal undertaking and an admission that his post had been “defamatory and untrue” which resulted in several Indian bloggers criticizing NDTV for trying to silence critics.[35]
Employment
Employees who blog about elements of their place of employment raise the issue of employee branding, since their activities can begin to affect the brand recognition of their employer. In general, attempts by employee bloggers to protect themselves by maintaining anonymity have proved ineffective.[36]
In late 2004, Ellen Simonetti was fired for what was deemed by her employer, Delta Air Lines, to be inappropriate material on her blog. She subsequently wrote a book based on her blog.
Delta Air Lines fired flight attendant Ellen Simonetti because she posted photographs of herself in uniform on an airplane and because of comments posted on her blog “Queen of Sky: Diary of a Flight Attendant” which the employer deemed inappropriate.[37][38] This case highlighted the issue of personal blogging and freedom of expression vs. employer rights and responsibilities, and so it received wide media attention. Simonetti took legal action against the airline for “wrongful termination, defamation of character and lost future wages”.[39] The suit was postponed while Delta was in bankruptcy proceedings (court docket).
In early 2006, Erik Ringmar, a tenured senior lecturer at the London School of Economics, was ordered by the convenor of his department to “take down and destroy” his blog in which he discussed the quality of education at the school.[40]
Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, was fined during the 2006 NBA playoffs for criticizing NBA officials on the court and in his blog.[41]
Mark Jen was terminated in 2005 after 10 days of employment as an Assistant Product Manager at Google for discussing corporate secrets on his personal blog, then called 99zeros and hosted on the Google-owned Blogger service.[42] He blogged about unreleased products and company finances a week before the company’s earnings announcement. He was fired two days after he complied with his employer’s request to remove the sensitive material from his blog.[43]
In India, blogger Gaurav Sabnis resigned from IBM after his posts exposing the false claims of a management school, IIPM, led to management of IIPM threatening to burn their IBM laptops as a sign of protest against him.[44]
Jessica Cutler, aka “The Washingtonienne”, blogged about her sex life while employed as a congressional assistant. After the blog was discovered and she was fired,[45] she wrote a novel based on her experiences and blog: The Washingtonienne: A Novel. Cutler is presently being sued by one of her former lovers in a case that could establish the extent to which bloggers are obligated to protect the privacy of their real life associates.[46]
Catherine Sanderson, a.k.a. Petite Anglaise, lost her job in Paris at a British accountancy firm because of blogging.[47] Although given in the blog in a fairly anonymous manner, some of the descriptions of the firm and some of its people were less than flattering. Sanderson later won a compensation claim case against the British firm, however.[48]
On the other hand, Penelope Trunk, writing in the Globe in 2006, was one of the first to point out that a large portion of bloggers are professionals and that a well-written blog can help attract employers.
Political dangers
Blogging can sometimes have unforeseen consequences in politically sensitive areas. Blogs are much harder to control than broadcast or even print media. As a result, totalitarian and authoritarian regimes often seek to suppress blogs and/or to punish those who maintain them.
In Singapore, two ethnic Chinese were imprisoned under the country’s anti-sedition law for posting anti-Muslim remarks in their blogs.[49]
Egyptian blogger Kareem Amer was charged with insulting the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and an Islamic institution through his blog. It is the first time in the history of Egypt that a blogger was prosecuted. After a brief trial session that took place in Alexandria, the blogger was found guilty and sentenced to prison terms of three years for insulting Islam and inciting sedition, and one year for insulting Mubarak.[50]
Egyptian blogger Abdel Monem Mahmoud was arrested in April 2007 for anti-government writings in his blog. Monem is a member of the banned Muslim Brotherhood.
After expressing opinions in his personal blog about the state of the Sudanese armed forces, Jan Pronk, United Nations Special Representative for the Sudan, was given three days notice to leave Sudan. The Sudanese army had demanded his deportation.[51][52][53]
In Myanmar, Nay Phone Latt, a blogger, was sentenced to 20 years in jail for posting a cartoon critical of head of state Than Shwe.[54]
Personal safety
See also: cyberstalking and Internet homicide
One consequence of blogging is the possibility of attacks or threats against the blogger, sometimes without apparent reason. Kathy Sierra, author of the innocuous blog Creating Passionate Users, was the target of such vicious threats and misogynistic insults that she canceled her keynote speech at a technology conference in San Diego, fearing for her safety.[55] While a blogger’s anonymity is often tenuous, Internet trolls who would attack a blogger with threats or insults can be emboldened by anonymity. Sierra and supporters initiated an online discussion aimed at countering abusive online behavior[56] and developed a blogger’s code of conduct.
History
Main article: History of blogging timeline
Main article: Online diary
The term “weblog” was coined by Jorn Barger[57] on 17 December 1997. The short form, “blog,” was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May 1999.[58][59][60] Shortly thereafter, Evan Williams at Pyra Labs used “blog” as both a noun and verb (”to blog,” meaning “to edit one’s weblog or to post to one’s weblog”) and devised the term “blogger” in connection with Pyra Labs’ Blogger product, leading to the popularization of the terms.[61]
Origins
Before blogging became popular, digital communities took many forms, including Usenet, commercial online services such as GEnie, BiX and the early CompuServe, e-mail lists[62] and Bulletin Board Systems (BBS). In the 1990s, Internet forum software, such as WebEx, created running conversations with “threads.” Threads are topical connections between messages on a metaphorical “corkboard.”
The modern blog evolved from the online diary, where people would keep a running account of their personal lives. Most such writers called themselves diarists, journalists, or journalers. Justin Hall, who began personal blogging in 1994 while a student at Swarthmore College, is generally recognized as one of the earliest bloggers,[63] as is Jerry Pournelle.[citation needed] Dave Winer’s Scripting News is also credited with being one of the oldest and longest running weblogs.[64][65] Another early blog was Wearable Wireless Webcam, an online shared diary of a person’s personal life combining text, video, and pictures transmitted live from a wearable computer and EyeTap device to a web site in 1994. This practice of semi-automated blogging with live video together with text was referred to as sousveillance, and such journals were also used as evidence in legal matters.
Early blogs were simply manually updated components of common Web sites. However, the evolution of tools to facilitate the production and maintenance of Web articles posted in reverse chronological order made the publishing process feasible to a much larger, less technical, population. Ultimately, this resulted in the distinct class of online publishing that produces blogs we recognize today. For instance, the use of some sort of browser-based software is now a typical aspect of “blogging”. Blogs can be hosted by dedicated blog hosting services, or they can be run using blog software, or on regular web hosting services.
Rise in popularity
After a slow start, blogging rapidly gained in popularity. Blog usage spread during 1999 and the years following, being further popularized by the near-simultaneous arrival of the first hosted blog tools:
· Bruce Ableson launched Open Diary in October 1998, which soon grew to thousands of online diaries. Open Diary innovated the reader comment, becoming the first blog community where readers could add comments to other writers’ blog entries.
· Brad Fitzpatrick started LiveJournal in March 1999.
· Andrew Smales created Pitas.com in July 1999 as an easier alternative to maintaining a “news page” on a Web site, followed by Diaryland in September 1999, focusing more on a personal diary community.[66]
· Evan Williams and Meg Hourihan (Pyra Labs) launched blogger.com in August 1999 (purchased by Google in February 2003)

Since 2002, blogs have gained increasing notice and coverage for their role in breaking, shaping, and spinning news stories. The Iraq war saw bloggers taking measured and passionate points of view that go beyond the traditional left-right divide of the political spectrum.
On 6 December 2002, Josh Marshall’s talkingpointsmemo.com blog called attention to U.S. Senator Lott’s comments regarding Senator Thurmond. Senator Lott was eventually to resign over the matter.
As an example of the rise of importance of blogs, in 2002, many blogs focused on comments by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott. Senator Lott, at a party honoring U.S. Senator Strom Thurmond, praised Senator Thurmond by suggesting that the United States would have been better off had Thurmond been elected president. Lott’s critics saw these comments as a tacit approval of racial segregation, a policy advocated by Thurmond’s 1948 presidential campaign. This view was reinforced by documents and recorded interviews dug up by bloggers. (See Josh Marshall’s Talking Points Memo.) Though Lott’s comments were made at a public event attended by the media, no major media organizations reported on his controversial comments until after blogs broke the story. Blogging helped to create a political crisis that forced Lott to step down as majority leader.
Similarly, blogs were among the driving forces behind the “Rathergate” scandal. To wit: (television journalist) Dan Rather presented documents (on the CBS show 60 Minutes) that conflicted with accepted accounts of President Bush’s military service record. Bloggers declared the documents to be forgeries and presented evidence and arguments in support of that view. Consequently, CBS apologized for what it said were inadequate reporting techniques (see Little Green Footballs). Many bloggers view this scandal as the advent of blogs’ acceptance by the mass media, both as a news source and opinion and as means of applying political pressure.
The impact of these stories gave greater credibility to blogs as a medium of news dissemination. Though often seen as partisan gossips, bloggers sometimes lead the way in bringing key information to public light, with mainstream media having to follow their lead. More often, however, news blogs tend to react to material already published by the mainstream media. Meanwhile, an increasing number of experts blogged, making blogs a source of in-depth analysis. (See Daniel Drezner, J. Bradford DeLong or Brad Setser.)
Mainstream popularity

By 2004, the role of blogs became increasingly mainstream, as political consultants, news services, and candidates began using them as tools for outreach and opinion forming. Blogging was established by politicians and political candidates to express opinions on war and other issues and cemented blogs’ role as a news source. (See Howard Dean and Wesley Clark.) Even politicians not actively campaigning, such as the UK’s Labour Party’s MP Tom Watson, began to blog to bond with constituents.
In January 2005, Fortune magazine listed eight bloggers that business people “could not ignore”: Peter Rojas, Xeni Jardin, Ben Trott, Mena Trott, Jonathan Schwartz, Jason Goldman, Robert Scoble, and Jason Calacanis.
Israel’s was among the first national governments to set up an official blog.[67] Under David Saranga, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs became active in adopting Web 2.0 initiatives, including an official video blog[67] and a political blog.[68] The Foreign Ministry also held a microblogging press conference via Twitter about its war with Hamas, with Saranga answering questions from the public in common text-messaging abbreviations during a live worldwide press conference.[69] The questions and answers were later posted on IsraelPolitik, the country’s official political blog.[70]

Maiden Voyage of The “BE-LO-ME- ll”

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Got the phone call while @ The Roost last night around 6 p.m.  that my 2010 Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 Angler would be delivered @ 8 a.m. Thurs. morning.. Great now I am like a little kid before Christmas Morn, waiting with the anticipation, and the patience of an 8 year old.. Thought about drinking myself to sleep, but then I thought I won’t feel too great on the Maiden Voyage.. Decided against Drinking and just Toughed it out and went to sleep with visions of Sugar Plumbs Dancing in my Head.

Phone Rings 7 a.m. he’s an hour out, I am loosing my freakin mind @ this point..Dieing to see her.. One of the longest Hours of my life, felt like time stood still, but eventually time passed and the truck pulled up in front of my Place.

The un-veiling, ain't she perty..

The un-veiling, ain't she perty..

The Driver and myself unloaded her on too the Ground where I proceeded to take a Knife to the Bubble Wrap and Plastic protective wrap, and that’s when I laid eyes on her for the First time,  The U.S.S BE-LO-ME-ll.

Mounted the Scotty Rod Holder to the Slide Trax System in Under 5 minutes.. These Slide Trax are new to the Tarpons. They put them in, in 2009.. I have lots and lots of Ideas to put on these.. Including a Marine G.P.S. System and a Color Bottom Machine (Sonar, Depth, Fish Finder)

I immediately began to Rig her with the anchor trolleys and other knick-knacks that I had on The BE-LO-ME (my old YAK).

Phase 3 Seating System Setup for my stature and Anchor Trolley from old YAK..Got 2 anchor Trolley's on her now gonna add a 3rd one to the front starbord side, that way I can get into any position I need to 360 degree's full circle.

Took about a half an hour I guess.   And I was loading her onto the JEEP, Locked and Loaded..

Locked and Loaded

Locked and Loaded

Freakin Stoaked.

Unloaded her @ the launch Point and took off with two of my Trout Rods.  First thing I noticed is that the Cock-Pit has so much more use-able room then my 2003 Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120.. Next thing i noticed is that the Phase Three Seating System is AWESOME, it is adjustable 3 different ways.  1.  Thigh Support.   2.  Lumbar Support.  3.  Height of the Seat Back..

Did about 7 hours and 5 Miles in the Phase 3 Seating System Today.. No Numb-Butt what so ever.. I could go to sleep in this Seat.. If ya look close ya can see how she comes up for thigh support. Amaze-ing..

This is by far the most comfortable Seating system that I have ever sat in in my LIFE.  I have paddled a bunch of yaks in the last 7 years, so that says a lot.. She’s a Cadillac.

Cock-Pit is several inch's further back, giving you more use-able room and a very true tracking ride.

Cock-Pit is several inch's further back, giving you more use-able room and a very true tracking ride.

The Hull was also a total redesign from what I am used to, much more stability, as I am able to stand in this one where my old one would not allow that.  1000 Percent Stoaked on this new Product.  Don’t get me wrong I love my old boat too.. But this one is unbelievable..

She appears to be faster, as I took her for an 7 hour Adventure.  It tracks great and handles the slop chop very very well.  With the relocation of the Cock-Pit and Seat, further back.  I believe that she will track down the face of   size-able waves much better then the old boat.   With out me getting into the Coffin Position on take off on a Chest high wave.

Now on to why I do it, gotta put some Blood on her. When I started Kayak Fishing 7 Years ago not many folks were doing it, so most of the Rigging Ideas came from a short list of folks that were doing it.   Fast Forward 7 Years and ya see Sit On Tops on most trucks down here.  Mind you, most stay on top of the trucks and never come down to play, as it has become a status symbol kind of thing, like rollin with a Surf Board on your roof when ya don’t Surf.    POSERS SUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First Blood caught around 9:37 a.m. this morning.. Rigged and Fished and Caught in under an hour and a half..

First Blood caught around 9:37 a.m. this morning.. Rigged and Fished and Caught in under an hour and a half..

With in 5 minutes of launching, and my Vehicle still in sight I put down the first of 15 Speckled Trout.  3 of which were Keepers,

As I headed North they got bigger, only got 3 over 12 inch's long one going 15.. But caught steady for a while.

I was thrilled, let them all live, bagged a 18 inch Puppy Drum on the way in.. And I can’t think of a better way to Christian The U.S.S. BE-LO-ME-ll..

Back to the JEEP time to go home and make some food 7 hours is a long time to be on a KAYAK, but this one here is about as good as it gets, Thanks Wilderness..

The Advances that Wilderness Systems have made over the last Seven Years is Mind Numbing.. I would Like to Thank the Entire Staff @ Wilderness Systems for My new Boat.. And if your looking to get into the Sport, there is not another Kayak that even comes close..

I guess I have Become The Bird Watcher WATCHER.. GAME ON!!!!!

I guess I have Become The Bird Watcher WATCHER.. GAME ON!!!!!

Decided to go the The Cape Hatteras Bird Club Meeting to voice my dis-pleasure with them.  It befuddles me how a group that is supposed to protect wildlife, destroys it.. The total number animals Killed by the Audubon Society, Defenders of Wildlife (I like to call them the Destroyers of Wildlife and the Southern Environmental Law Center total is now eight hundred and twenty eight animals killed.. By killing these animals (playing GOD) deciding what lives and dies, they have managed to loose ground on the Plovers and the Oyster Catches.. Producing one less Plover and 3 less Oyster Catchers..

So we  close the Beach to Humans from March to Mid August  costing this Little island Millions and Millions of Dollars in Tourist Revenue.. For a loss of Bird Productivity.. Have they lost their minds???.. Better question have we lost our minds by letting them get away with this..

I am Tired of waiting for the Senate and Congress of the United States of America, to step in and help us.. I am Tired of Groups that just stay on Defense.. I will be the Thorn in their side.. They have taken away from all of us what is rightfully ours.. Now its my turn, I will take away from them what they enjoy.  Just by my Presence..

I will go to every Bird Club Meeting that there is.. I will go to every Bird Watching Event on this Island.. I will bring Air Horns and Discharge them @ will while on the Birding Trips .. I will make their stay on this Island as un-welcome as possible.. I guess I will become The Bird Watcher, Watcher..

Well onto what was said @ this meeting.. The Cape Hatteras Bird Club has a Grand Total of 6 members.. All Paying Members Quit, when they took sides with the Dark Side to have our Beach’s Closed to Human Access..

 http://pierandsurf.com/fishing-forum/showthread.php?t=52560

There is a Rule that Dogs and most animals Follow, don’t Shit where you Sleep.  Well Folks that’s what they have done..

During this meeting Neil Moore referred to a good friend of mine as a and I quote a ”NEO-NAZI”  He cried about how he is treated by this Community now.  See Above Rule.. (Don’t Shit where you Sleep Neil) Claimed that not one Business on this island has lost a single dollar because of the Closures.  Said there are too many Businesses and mis- management is the problem.. He said its a survival of the Fittest thing with the businesses.. What a JACK-OFF, if that applies to Business why would it not apply to Nature.  He also stated that he would dis-band the Bird Club, if things went back to the way they were.. Well Neil with Six members I don’t believe you have much to disband..

A motion was brought before the Bird Club to Either Support the Senate and House Bills, or be against them.. After much Bickering (as much as you an get between 6 folks) they decided to wait and See, while the good people of Hatteras Island starve to Death.. Well Guys you have made your Bed, time to Sleep in it.. I will not be waiting I will be acting.. If you would like more information go to Irene’s Site she has the Total Story of our Plight there, here is the link.. http://www.islandfreepress.org/

Their next Get together is Nov. 6 Cape Hatteras Light House parking lot 9 a.m.   It will be hosted by the Carolina Bird Club  our buddy Derb Carters Group..  http://www.carolinabirdclub.org/

I will be there with Bells on, or should I say Air Horns on.. Hope to see some of you there, lets show them a good old Hatteras Welcome.. If you take something away from me , I will take something away from you.. Don’t think that you can Shit where you Sleep and get away with it.. Not gonna happen.. Rant off .. JAM out .. Creepin While Your Sleepin..

A Tradition and Way of Life on Hatteras Island

A Tradition and Way of Life on Hatteras Island

The Commercial  Fishermen Have been hard @ it in a lot of the Different spots in the Sound.  These guys work hard as H#ll and have been a Staple of this Island since People were Here.  They have my Up-Most Respect and have made this Island what it is today..

They are regulated to Death every time they turn around.  Which I think is very very unfair.. New Rules are strangling all aspects of Commercial Fishing through out the United States.  Enviro-wacko’s and greedy Politicians are killing this industry, as we import more and more of the Sea Food Eaten in this country..

Its nice that I am still finding these guys, have caught Speckled Trout now for 6 Months Straight. Looking Foward to catching them in the Ocean from the Beach. Should start up after the next good NE Blow.

It’s truly a shame That an American Vessel is Limited to what he can do and a Chinesee Vessel right next to him can do what they want and then sell it back to us.. It’s  a Sick Sick thing..

Nice Blue

Nice Blue

Well I watched these boys get a good haul while I fished.  I managed to scrape up a decent Blue and a Nice little Speck that will Swim to see another Day..

Buy American Sea Food lets Help our Own for a change..

White Caps Rollers and Breakers in the Sound Weather Man needs to Buy a Clue

I can not stand the Weather Channel, they can never get it right or even close.  My fault I know better and use http://www.wunderground.com/

Spray everywhere.. Mighty Wet Ride.

Spray everywhere.. Mighty Wet Ride.

Most of the time. Today I did not.. Got there and the Wind was Howlin @ around 15 to 20 Knots out of the NNE.  Paddled Head on into it and went to what I call Spot Number 3, anchored up and gave it a whirl.. Waves were  breaking over the Bow on my Kayak in the Sound.. Here is a few shots of them.. I showed it to ya Glass Clam well here it is PISSED..

Still Rolling but Much Better then spray every wave..

Still Rolling but Much Better then spray every wave..

Was just too much anchored flat slam into it so I moved to get to the Leeward side of an Island in the Sound, much better there, less wind and less waves.

Moved to another Leeward spot out of the swell and wind and Managed a Short Flounder.. That’s a good sign I thought to myself, so I stayed put.   After several more casts rod really jumped down and drag started screaming.. Had the Net @ the ready and Pulled in this nice little 18 inch er.

He was Hooked deep so he went on the Stringer to come home.  Did get a few more Little Flounders Right @ around 14 and 3/4 inches , let them swim to see another day, when there legal ..

If these guys are out, the Kite Boarders ya know the wind is up..

Hard Ne Winds today, but it was too nice not to give it a whirl.  With all the Systems coming through in the recent days, Beggars can’t be choosers.  Packed up some water and hit it around 2 p.m., Paddled dead into a North wind @ around 12 to 15 knots.

If Blues are around than nothing else lives..

If Blues are around than nothing else lives..

Pretty stiff running current.. Did not expect too much but went to my usual Spots and much to my surprise nailed a nice Blue Fish.  Or Mid-Atlantic Purana as a nick name.  Nothing fancy bout 19 inches 2 2and 1/2 pounds.  Went to another spot because if blues are around, nothing else is, for long that is.

Pin Fish Caught Doggie Style

Pin Fish Caught Doggie Style

Went up wind a little further and anchored up for a spell.  Caught a Pin fish and decided to use him as live bait, so I rigged him up and sent him out to swim around and attract something bigger.

Shorty bout 13 inches or so..

While I was doing that I re-rigged another rod I had with me to Jig fish with.  Wasn’t long before I pulled in the first Flunder or Short Flounder.    Let him go and banged another short Flounder.
