Caape Hatteras Light House where I Live Buxton N.C.

The Plan was to take off from the Light House in Buxton (Ramp43) and go as far North with the Current and the Drift and Paddle  as Tater felt comfortable.    He is only 12, and he should be able to go longer than Rob and myself, but its only his 3rd or 4 th time on a YAK.

We get rigged up and hit it and head North in the Grave Yard Of the Atlantic.  That’s what they call this body of water because of all the Ships that have sunk off our coasts, some by German Subs back in the day.  Some just run aground and sink.

Tater Strokin It, a view most do not get to see.. Ocean is my front yard, sound is my Back.. Blessed!!

That’s what makes the Fishing so Great here is the Proximity to the Shelf and Gulf Stream and all the different wrecks that you can fish.

We came across a giant school of Blues, Macks and Menhaden or Bunker, Fat Back, Pogy  as we call it in these parts… LOL We all hook some Blues and Some Spanish Mackerel’s and Tater got a Salt Water Gar.  We had a blast, the water was blood red it was so thick with Bait getting destroyed by the Spanish and the Blues .  We got to up to around Ramp 38, bout 5 miles from where we started and decided to call it a day.

Tater got rolled and Slammed.  I bailed the yak in deeper water and walked it in, that is until a wave wanted my boat more than me.. It was slammed to the beach.. Results 6 lost lures one lost rod and reel (broke another one, rod out in the Deep on the cast) One Coffeecup top..

But had a great time do in it .. What ever ya bring into the Ocean ya Just might not come back with.   Don’t matter though got to see a Good friends Son Ocean launch for the first time in his life.. PRICELESS

Year to date Ocean verses JAM
