Went out today after work, SE winds 10 knots went to a couple holes and visited what I call Water Moccasin Island.. Place totally looks freakin SNAKEY.. But as most of you know I am the inquisitive type and love to check out new places.. Hung out a bit got everything right headed to the 3rd hole of the day. Casted for about a half an hour nothing.. Moved 10 feet closer to another Island, and let the games begin.
Caught 3 short flounder then a nice Speck. Kept the Speck and moved to another spot.. got a real nice over slot Puppy Drum… Let him live and made the paddle back in 15 to 20 knot head winds.. Lets just say nice workout today was a ways out there today.. Well till next time .. JAM out
Water Getting Back to Normal
Saturday, May 23rd, 2009
Went out today solo not with to many expectations, but folks that’s why they call it fishing. Water temps are on the rise and thing are getting fishy again.. Paddled to the Normal Spots and fished a little here and a little there.. Mainly Drift fishing Casting and retrieving while drifting the flats. Then she went down using, a little ultra-light rod and 8 pound one pound diameter line it was on. Not under anchor free drifting.. Kept pressure on the Fish while I grabbed my net with the other free hand. Netted the Joker.. New it weren’t a Citation but new she went around 4 pounds.. Brought here to the scales @ Dillions 4 Pounds.. Would have been paperwork a few years ago but now it takes a 5 Pound-er… Well this is just the beginning.. I see more of these and bigger in our future.. Until Next time.. JAM out
A Late Season Noreaster has the Plastic Navy Stuck in Port
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009A late season Nor’easter has kept us hemmed in.. The good news is this should help to keep the Cobia in our neck of the woods for a while. The thought process is if the water north of us is not what they like then they will hangaround. Other side of the coin is that if they get to the gulf stream the they will ride that north and bye bye Cobia . I like choice number one better..
Have not been able to get out in the YAK this week @ all but Thurs. looks like a winner. Of course every thing will be stirred up and moved around, but that’s the fun of trout fishing.. Going to find them in different areas of the sound in different conditions. I guess from the outside looking in trying to out-smart something that has the brain the size of a dime, MIGHT not be the most sane thing to do with ones time. But its a lot cheaper than therapy..
Looking forward to the next trip as I got a new seat for the YAK its an APEX 1, from a good friend of mines company up the beach.. He’s got everything to get ya on the water from new YAK’s to the most recent accessory’s here is a link to his site.. http://customfishingadventures.com/
Got a good little storey for ya being I can’t get out.. A good friend of mine is workin in Fla, over in the panhandle on OkaloosaIsland in Ft. Walton Beach. I have been there a dozen times or so and it is a beautiful place to be.. Rich some of you know him as OBX-TACO took his YAK with him on this trip and got hooked up with the Gulf Coast Kayak Association, and entered a YAK Fishing Tourney.. He had a blast and did great out of 126 entrants Rich placed 4 th.. Another Friend of ours Bob Boston took 3rd here are some pic’s of the event.. Congrats to Rich and Bob.. till next time JAM OUT

Some New Ink Today
Thursday, May 14th, 2009On the 12 of June last year I was lucky enough to catch what most fishermen call the Apex of their fishing career.. Got my first Blue Marlin.. Have been waiting for the guy in Frisco to get back from Hawaii to get some ink to commemorate the event. Gonna get a nice Blue One with the date caught and Hatteras NC below it, pretty stoaked. All of the Tattoo’s on me are related to a personal event in my life, they are related to something special that has happened to me. The true meaning of TATTOO.. Way way back in the day that’s what the cavemen and on have done.. Documented their lives on their skin.. Well here goes another chapter.. Chapter 14.. Pics to come around 3 today.. JAM OUT
