Second Time Out in the YAK Dinner on Da Table

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

The second trip of the year provided me with dinner.. Here was the over land transportation method.. the over sea method of transportation…and dinner…Water is still very cool, the PUP was dead on 18 and the speck was about 14… Good enough to bring home… Took about an hour to find the speck, caught the pup shortly there after.. Had a couple of firm take-downs, but what ever it  was came un-buttoned… Nice little paddle, nice little sunset, bad little mosquitoes…..  Until next time …. JAM OUT

YAK ATTACK SOUNDSIDE

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Finlay launched the SS BE-LO-ME  for the virgin run this afternoon after work.  Paddled about 2 miles before the wind picked up so I settled down and dropped anchor in a pretty little spot in about 10 feet of water.  Second cast wham, is this him the huge speck that I have been looking for.. Heart pounding with anticipation get him closer to the YAK, got my net @ the ready, and my 6 pound Speckled Trout turned into a 22 inch Striper RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES… Let him go casted again and wham another Striper cookie cutter type same as the last one.. Could have been the same fish for all I know.. Let him go too.. Had no Ice with me and left the stringer in the JEEP.. All in all a fantastic day on the Pamlico sound.. Little chilly no wet suit or nothing but do-able .  Got a little color on this winter white boy body..Don’t worry I will get that big Speck one day….

You all come by and see Me @ The Roost

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

It is with great pleasure to anounce that I have started working @ the Pelican’s Roost Tackle Shop @ Teach’s Lair Marina.   I will be building custom rods and sling’in BAIT once again… Steve and Dave  are great folks, that I have known for a while and they had an opening for me so I jumped @ it.. Look foward to seeing you all again ya just got to go a little further south..

On another note we were SKUNKED like PEPE LE PEW the other day.. Fished for around 3 hours both sides of the shoals of Hatteras Inlet..  Later that night I got the call from the beach that a real fun blitz was going on.. Only 10 people and over 50 + fish were landed and released..  Those boys got’em good..  Arch was the Man with I believe 17 over 40.. Manteo George had 9  Zach had 5.  and the list goes on….  There is nothing better on this planet to be part of a bite like that.. Everyone working together Great fishing and Great Friends… Congrats to all who partook.. I missed it due to a 5 a.m. wake up call.. Its only gonna get better, as long as we have a place to fish…..

Sea YA … JAM out

Well so much for waxing the YAK

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Got a call this morning gonna go hunt for big Reds with the FREE AGENT.  Hopefuly we will find them, but with Rick involved it should be a given.. Rob is gonna brin some of his camera’s so we should have some good pic’s by tonight..  If I catch one this spring it will be one more than I caught all last year…Ain’t beach clousures GREAT .. I saw where seabear posted about the diminished citation numbers for NC Saltwater.. I would have to bet that they are way down, year before 14 Drum Released last year none.  I think Zing Pow caught 30 or so year before last year 1..  Put those numbers to everyone you know that fishes hard for them and I would venture to guess that citation numbers for Drum are down @ least 50% if not more..   SEA YA JAM

No fishing as of yet but
